For example, if you already live in California, real estate listings in your local newspaper classifieds or real estate brochures from local offices will help you begin by making you immediately aware of available homes in the area.
When you’re looking for real estate listings in the newspapers, you may have some questions about the ads you see, since many of them will not include pictures and are short on detail. Online ads may present the same problem, but you can usually view photos of the home for sale, or at least a floor plan to give you an idea of how spacious the home is and of how the rooms are situated.
To make your home search even easier, you can also select the region of Venice you’d like to move to based on the available homes in the area, the amount of homes in your desired area with adequate space, and the homes within your desired area that are affordable. When you select a neighborhood, make sure you’re close to your work and to children’s schools. You’ll also want to make sure you’re fairly close to other places you’ll need to get to often, like the grocery store, library, church or shopping centers. The type of home you choose to move into could affect the neighborhood location and price as well. For instance, homes closer to downtown will tend to be a little more expensive, and homes with extra features such as longer sidewalks, special landscaping and convenient locations tend to be in a higher price range. Prices for homes that are about average in size and space (enough to comfortably house a family of four), can range anywhere from $550,000 to $975,000.
As you search through Venice real estate listings and begin looking at homes, make sure you take notes on both what you read in the listings and what you see when you look at the homes. Keep in mind the things you absolutely have to have in a home and the things you’d really like your new home to have. Make sure you take note of any repairs that may need to be made after you’ve moved in, and if you have questions you’d like to ask the sellers of the home, remember to jot them down as well.
